Capture the beauty in every moment

Welcome to Earth Mentoring, where the passion for photography meets the love for nature and adventure. My name is Clay Groot, and I am a Michigan-based photographer with over 15 years of professional and personal photography experience. Specializing in nature and wildlife, families and adorable kids, and adventure photography, I aim to capture the beauty of the world around us.

Growing up on 20 acres in a rural part of West Michigan and being homeschooled provided me with the perfect environment to learn photography. Starting with my mom's manual 35mm Canon, I have been exploring the world of photography ever since. My mom, also a photographer, has been a constant source of encouragement and critique, helping me to continually improve and find my own creative expression.

My journey as a photographer has taken me to various locations across Michigan and beyond. From the scenic landscapes of the Upper Peninsula to the vibrant cities of Michigan, I have captured a wide range of moments and scenes. Whether it's the majestic flight of eagles, the incredible strength of bears, or the breathtaking beauty of the Aurora Borealis, my passion for photography drives me to keep exploring and capturing the world's beauty.

Passions

When I'm not out taking photos, I enjoy reading and learning from great minds. Favorite quotes include "Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value" by Albert Einstein, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see" by Mark Twain, and "One who loves must learn fear. One who fears must learn love" by Menachem Mendel Schneerson. These quotes remind me of the importance of value, kindness, and balance in life.

Travels

It's about the journey, not just the destination! I have been fortunate enough to travel to 41 out of 50 states in the United States, experiencing the diverse landscapes, climates, and cultures of this great nation. From the majestic mountains to the vast prairies, and from the dry heat of Death Valley to the brisk air of Alaska, every journey has been a blessing and a source of inspiration for my photography.
