The Gallery

Established in 1979, the Larry Kanfer Gallery is located in a spacious and beautiful standalone building in Champaign, Illinois. Our gallery is home to five rooms, including an atrium gallery, a University of Illinois Gallery, as well as a serene outdoor courtyard. The gallery is also available for hosting opening events, book launch parties, tours, private events, and presentations for community organizations.

History of the Gallery

Larry Kanfer's photography career began during his college days, when he went door-to-door to build a portrait business. In his spare time, he would photograph the prairies and farmland of central Illinois. This relaxing hobby expanded into the collection for which he is now best known - Prairiescapes.

The Larry Kanfer Gallery first opened its doors in Champaign, Illinois, nearly 30 years ago. Over the years, the gallery has evolved, moving from a small rental apartment to a basement commercial space, and eventually to its current standalone building.
