Business Details
We are a self-taught American photographer based in Austin, Texas, with a background in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Our work is rooted in a deep understanding of patterns and rhythm, drawn from a foundation in science and music. We view our surroundings as giant kinetic events, constantly moving because time is finite and the number of interesting situations is seemingly infinite. We strive for a pure approach to photography, allowing moments to play out without our interference. Our idea of a great photograph is one that transcends its context and allows for many different interpretations. We have completed published assignments for prestigious publications including The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The New York Times Magazine. In 2008, our work was purchased for the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and in 2011 for the Portland Art Museum.
Our solo exhibitions have been held at Northern Southern Gallery in Austin, Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, and SRO gallery at Texas Tech University. We have also participated in group shows across the United States, France, China, Russia, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic. We were chosen as a Fotofest Discovery in 2012 and won first place at the International Festival of Photography Photovisa IV in Krasnodar, Russia in 2012. Our intent is not to compartmentalize life and art, but to find some space that links the two together. We are dedicated to delivering compelling documentary and portrait work that meets the highest editorial standards.
